Location and Access

Located five miles southeast of Muncie, Indiana, Prairie Creek Reservoir is a beautiful area that is 1,200 acres. There are many activities for visitors that include on the water and off.

Fishing in the Lake

The fishing opportunities here are great! The reservoir offers a variety of fish species and areas where visitors can fish from on and off the water.

The most common species of fish found here are largemouth bass, channel catfish, black crappie, walleye, bluegill, and yellow perch.

Around Prairie Creek Reservoir

The Prairie Creek Reservoir is a great location to enjoy some family outdoor fun! Some amenities included are a marina, boat rentals, boat launch ramp, campgrounds, RV hookups, restaurant, and nearby lodging and convenience store.

Hospital and Airport

The IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital is located about 20 minutes north of the reservoir in the city of Muncie.

There are three international airports within an hour and a half of the lake area. Going north is the Fort Wayne International Airport, southwest is the Indianapolis International Airport, and southeast is the Dayton International Airport.

City of Muncie

The smaller city of Muncie is located about 15 minutes away from the reservoir area. It is a college town that is home to Ball State University. Visitors, residents, and students are all able to enjoy the outdoor recreational, shopping, dining, and entertainment scene.

City of Indianapolis

Located about an hour and 15 minutes southwest of Prairie Creek is the state capital, Indianapolis, where there are lots to do and see.

Indianapolis is known for many different sports attractions and museums. It is also home to the largest children’s museum in the country! This “sports-crazy city” is great for watching games downtown and enjoying the restaurant scene.
